Newsletter April 2006

Salaam

I am pleased to inform you that our website is updated for April 2006.

In this update we have published the following essays submitted by our
members, readers and guests :

Tranquility and Peace
All human beings seek tranquility and peace of mind, searching for ways and
means for attaining real mental satisfaction. But the question is how is it really
achieved?

In this article
Dr. Tanveer Hussain discusses the concept of peace and
tranquility
in Quran.

The Primary Message of Quran

In the past few years we have seen a resurgence in propaganda against
Islam in which it is portrayed as a violent and intolerant religion, which
spreads hatred towards others. These accusations couldn't be further from
the truth. In reality Islam is a religion of peace and the
primary message of
Quran teaches us the basic humanitarian values and goodness towards
fellow human beings. In this way Quran aptly answers these baseless
accusations. This same
primary message was the basis of the initial
development and success of the Muslim community fourteen centuries ago
and still relevant today as a guidance for all the Muslims.

In this essay
Ahmad Ibrahim examines what is the primary message of
Quran?

Parable of the Quran: Guidance

A parable is a narrative of imagined events used to illustrate or convey a
moral or spiritual lesson. Quran uses parables to convey its message. Quran
says “And these similitudes we put forward for humankind, but none will
understand them except those who have knowledge” (29:43)

In this essay
Saif Manzoor examines a famous parable from the Quran about
guidance to humankind.

Book Review – A mirror to the blind

This book is an autobiography of Abdul Sattar Edhi as narrated to Tehmina
Durrani. This Volume I covers his life upto 1995. This book is compiled from
over forty hours of taped recordings with Abdul Sattar Edhi. Edhi's message
comes at a time when people are disillusioned and direction-less. His life's
work restores out flickering faith in humanity. His example inspires us
towards making a personal revolution.... so that the collective spirit may be
strengthened.

Your suggestions are always welcome. I sincerely hope these essays will
help all of us to better understand and share the wisdom of Quran and
Sunnah, beyond the sectarian and ethnic boundaries.

Warm Regards,

Ahmad Ibrahim
